AFFIRMATION OF FAITH

(What we believe)

I. WE BELIEVE IN GOD:

God is the creator of the universe and all that therein (Gen.1 and 2). There is only one true God (Deut.6:4-5).Although God is one, there are three persons in the Godhead: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Matt.28:19) each is distinct in personality and function but is the state in unity. God is loving, omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent Being who desires to reveal Himself to His creation.

A. GOD THE FATHER: God the Father is Loving and Merciful. He provides for His children and cares for creation (Matt.6:26, 30). He sent Jesus Christ into the World so that we will have salvation (John 3:16)

B. GOD THE SON: Jesus Christ is God whom the Gospel of John describes as the Word (John 1:1-14). He was with god in the very beginning. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit through Mary. He took of the nature of humanity. Jesus lived a sinless life and offered Himself as an ultimate and complete sacrifice for the remission of sin and salvation to all who call on the name of the Lord. He died, resurrected ascended and one day will come again (I Thes.4:16).

C. GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT: The Holy Spirit is a person not merely a power or force. He convicts people of their sins and empowers believers to do God’s work. He is the Comforter, Counselor, Teacher and Guide. He is divine and is no way interior to the Father and the Son

II. WE BELIEVE IN THE BIBLE:

The Holy Bible which consists of 39 books in the Old Testament and 27 books in the New Testament is the Word of God. It is God-inspired and authoritative in matters of faith and practice (2Tim.3:16-17). Although it was written by people, God gave guidance to the writers, thus making God the Supreme Author.

III. WE BELIEVE IN SALVATION:

We are created in the image of God. Our fore parents sinned in the Garden of Eden (Gen.3) and we were alienated from God as a consequence. We cannot save ourselves from sin, but only through a Savior in the person of Jesus Christ in order to have salvation (John 3:16, 14:6). Salvation is by grace through faith, a gift of god so that no one should boast (Eph.2:8).

IV. WE BELIEVE IN THE CHURCH:

The Church is a body of believers. After salvation, it is commanded that believers gather should gather together (Heb.10:25-26) to carry out God’s purpose such as worship, fellowship, discipleship, equipping and evangelism. Every believer is a minister and has direct access to God. However, believers differ in functions and calling. The apostle Paul compares the church to a body, different in functions but working to advance Christ’s Kingdom here on earth.

V. WE BELIEVE IN THE LAST THINGS:

The blessed hope of believers is the coming again of Jesus Christ (Tit. 2:13) to establish His reign on earth. Unbelievers will be judged and cast to their eternal destiny, while believers will receive their rewards and be ushered into their eternal home.
